CBD Main Street Revitalisation

The City is preparing a revitalisation plan for the Gold Coast CBD’s main street – Nerang Street. Once complete, the plan will help shape the future of our CBD and guide future improvements and investment.

Throughout the project there will be opportunities for the community to provide input and share their ideas for the future of our CBD main street.

Background

Nerang Street has been Southport’s main street since the late 1800s. In more recent times, Nerang Street’s identity as a CBD main street has declined. As part of the Gold Coast CBD Program 2025, the CBD Main Street Revitalisation project has been identified as a key initiative to help position the CBD as a dynamic destination for business, investment, education and leisure.

The CBD Main Street Revitalisation will involve significant background research and investigations, community consultation and the preparation of a comprehensive revitalisation plan. The plan will set the vision for the street and outline key strategies and projects to achieve the vision. Council has appointed H2 consultancy team to deliver the plan in collaboration with the community and key stakeholders.
