Gold Coast Chinatown Best Shop front 2016 – Winner

Congratulations ‘Not Tonight’ on winning ‘Best Chinatown Shopfront 2016!

Initially a total of 39 businesses were nominated for the Best Chinatown Shopfront Competition 2016.  These nominations were shortlisted to six businesses namely: The Filipino Shop, Garden Gate Florist, Kubo’s Café Bar and Grill, Sabai Thai, 42 Fifteen and Not Tonight.

The shortlist was then evaluated by a panel of local business representatives using the principles from the recently released ‘Chinatown Retailers Guide’.

Criteria included:

  • Unique culture
  • Inviting shopfront
  • Fresh and current presentation
  • Indication of on-line presence
  • Featuring fun elements such as events, celebrations and collaboration
  • Environmental sustainability

Chinatown Events

Chinatown businesses are invited to get involved in Chinatown events (such as Lunar New Year and and regular street events), and general calendar celebrations (such as Christmas, New Year, Mother/Fathers’s Day) and city events (such as the GC Marathon, Bleach Festival).  You can do this by being open for business during the events, dressing up your business with posters, decorations, and possibly even offering ‘Menu Specials’ that echo the themes.
